The latest BI Book release is here. This update brings a refreshed look and smoother experience, faster performance under the hood, new features in the Store, and a set of smaller improvements — all covered below.
The bright green era of BI Book has come to an end. In its place: a fresh, calmer look built on clarity and consistency — so the focus stays where it belongs, on your data.

From now on you can adapt BI Book to the way you like to work. You can pick the display mode that suits you: light, dark, or system.

This release makes it easier to see what's happening with your data — and to refresh exactly what you need.
Refresh history for every connector. You can now view the refresh history behind each activated connector, so it's easy to check when data was last updated and spot any failed runs. We're rolling this out connector by connector, so it will become available for yours over the coming weeks.
Transparent activation pipeline. Activations are no longer a black box — you can now follow their progress and see exactly where each one stands. Like refresh history, this is being enabled per connector, so availability may vary at first.
Refresh by process. Endpoints can now be grouped into processes and refreshed together. Want a process set up for your environment? Contact us and we'll configure it for you. Once in place, you can refresh exactly the data you need — no more triggering endpoints one by one.
Working inside a report now counts as being active. Previously, switching between report pages or interacting with them — filtering, using writeback visuals — didn't register as activity, so users could be logged out mid-work. That's fixed: as long as you're working in a report, your session stays open.
You now always know who's looking after your reporting. Your contact person is visible in the Company Portal, so when you have a question, you know exactly who to turn to.

Not everything in this release is visible on the surface. We've optimised memory use across BI Book for faster load times and a smoother experience, improved the reliability of data refresh statuses, and upgraded several core technologies the platform is built on. You won't see these changes directly, but you'll feel them.
Full screen navigation fixed. You can now move between report pages in full screen mode, even when page navigation is hidden in the report itself. Previously, entering full screen with hidden navigation left you stuck on a single page.
User group member counts corrected. User Groups now show the accurate number of members. Previously, the member count displayed for a group could differ from its actual membership.
Cleaner text wrapping in analytics navigation. Long report and page names now wrap between whole words instead of breaking mid-word, making the navigation easier to read at a glance.
We hope you enjoy this new release!
Yours sincerely,
Team BI Book

We are pleased to announce that the new Planning package has been published to Microsoft AppSource.
It will be automatically updated in your reports within approximately two weeks.
The new package focuses on:
Further performance optimization to reduce visual rendering time
Introducing Planning UI translations
Adding a new “Save options” feature
as well as improvements to the existing features
Planning is now available not only in English, but also in Finnish and Swedish.
Read more here: Planning visual supported languages - BI Book
Please note that the majority of the user interface has been translated, and additional translations will be added in upcoming releases.
Save options let you control which planning cells land in your database (planning latest view) with each save action, so the data is immediately ready to be used.
Read more on how to use the feature here: Planning - Saving settings - BI Book
✅ Resolved an issue where column headers disappeared when multiple years were selected and the Year field was not enabled in subtotals.
✅ Resolved an issue where users had to click a cell twice—first to select it and then again to start editing—when changing cell values by clicking. Now, a single click enables direct input.
✅ Planning table header is now fixed
✅ Resolved an issue where, when Display unit under Visuals > Cells > Text formatting was set to a value other than "None" (e.g. "Thousands"), applying math functions or percentage changes to a cell, subtotal cell, or range of cells produced incorrect results.
✅ Resolved an issue where the row headers background color setting did not work when there was only one level in the rows.
Sincerely yours,
Team BI Book

We’re excited to introduce the latest BI Book release, which includes BI Book AI Agents and a range of UI and technical improvements.
From now on, you’ll not only be able to chat with your reports’ underlying datasets, but also utilize AI Agents capabilities.
Please note that the BI Book AI Agents feature is not included by default; it must be activated separately in the BI Book Store and is subject to an additional fee.

We’ve eliminated button clutter on the Content page. All ‘Add’ actions (e.g. adding a report) are now available via the ‘Create’ button.

For a better navigation experience, the open report is now clearly highlighted in the navigation sidebar.

The redundant navigation controls at the bottom of the report have been removed. If needed you can enable it back in the Report settings

This release also contains several minor improvements, such as fixes to Event Logs filtering and others.
We hope you enjoy this new release!
Yours sincerely,
Team BI Book

We're delighted to introduce the latest update to BI Book, bringing substantial improvements, new features, and important fixes.
Improvements include optimized handling of unsaved changes, significantly enhancing performance and responsiveness:
Changes are now processed directly, reducing the necessity of visual memory storage.
Reminder: Unsaved changes will be lost upon switching pages.
The Planning UI has been revamped for consistency and improved usability:
Theme selection now ensures a consistent look and feel across the application, including cells, subtotals, header formatting, and other UI components. All UI elements have been revised to enhance usability and provide a simplified, minimalist experience.
Adaptive resize of modal windows based on screen dimensions for a seamless experience.
Refined the user experience for multiple features, including improvements to the copy-by-dragging capability, resulting in smoother and more intuitive interactions.
❗Note: The Planning UI upgrade can override certain customer-specific formatting settings. After the upgrade, please review your customers’ configurations and manually reapply any formatting that has been changed.

(1) To save time on visual formatting, select one of the available pre-made themes from Table formatting
(2) Themes control the appearance of key elements such as subtotals, grand totals, cell styles, edited cells, calculated column backgrounds, and locked cells.
(3) If the selected theme doesn’t meet your preferences, you can customize the formatting at any time in the visual settings.
New options have been added for row loading modes, giving users flexibility:
"Progressive" loading by scrolling (default setting).
"Load All at Once" for immediate display.
"Specify Initial Row Count" to customize the initial load amount.

We've resolved several important issues:
Fixed infinite loading when applying suggestions to a range containing calculated cells.
Resolved navigation issues after user input.
Fixed conditional formatting for cases where the measure name contains a special character.
Resolved performance issues in the "Suggest All" feature, with additional enhancements planned.
Improved stability to prevent the visual from jumping after most actions (e.g., suggestions and allocations). A small number of edge cases still cause the visual to scroll to the top.
For full transparency, here are existing issues under review:
Column width adjustments with "Auto Width" disabled may not respond correctly.
Undo (Ctrl+Z) occasionally behaves incorrectly in certain editing contexts, such as after using the copy feature or applying suggestions to row or column subtotals.
Specific rendering modes exhibit anomalies in specific use cases.
“Load all at once” issue where collapsing all levels causes rows to seem to disappear:
“Progressive load” issue: When the rendering mode is set to Progressive (default) and there are unsaved changes while not all rows are loaded (e.g., the user hasn’t scrolled down yet), scrolling down to load additional planning rows can cause UI issues:

Calculated columns feature does not work properly if the value measure has a special character in its name.
If a cell has just been edited and the user adds or edits a comment, the comment is not saved.
After applying a formula to a range of row subtotals, the underlying cells do not show the “edited” cell formatting.
Over the next two weeks, we’ll focus on polishing this version of the visual and fixing the bugs listed under “Known issues.” In parallel, we’ll begin Planning Optimization – Part 2, which aims to reduce rendering time and is expected to take approximately 1–1.5 months.
Thank you for your patience!

We value your feedback and encourage you to explore this update.
We are updating how public bookmarks work in BI Book to better align with Power BI Service and give you more control over shared views.
Until now:
Any user with access to a report could create public bookmarks.
Only Admins could delete public bookmarks.
From this release onward, public bookmarks are tied to Power BI edit permissions on the report.
1. Who can create public bookmarks?
Users can create a public bookmark for a report if they have “Power BI edit mode” on that report via either:
“Can edit” direct access, or
A user group with “Can edit” access.
If a user does not have “Power BI edit mode” on a report:
They can create private bookmarks only, as long as they have at least view permission on the report.
Important:
Even if the report itself does not have editing enabled in BI Book, users with “Power BI edit mode” permission can still create public bookmarks for that report.
2. Who can delete public bookmarks?
Users with “Power BI edit mode” on a report can delete that report’s public bookmarks.
(Admin rights are no longer required for this.)
3. What stays the same?
The private bookmarks feature is unchanged.
Any user with access to a report can still view all public bookmarks for that report.
Bug fix: Tag filter layout on Store page
We have fixed an issue where the Tag filter UI on the Store page broke when many tags were selected.
Other small UI fixes.
We hope you enjoy this new release!
